But bias aside, the Avs are also objectively one of the best teams in the league and they’re opening the Western Conference Finals at home tonight.

Yes, Cale Makar is out. That hurts — he’s one of the best defensemen in hockey and his absence is real. But this roster is deep enough to absorb it. They swept the Kings in round one and took out the Wild 4-1 in round two without breaking a sweat. This team knows how to win in the playoffs.

The Knights are a good team — they always are. But the Avs have home ice, the better roster top to bottom, and a 60% win probability backing them up tonight. I’m backing my team and I’m backing the best team in the West.

Avs ML.

Los Angeles Dodgers ML

Shohei Ohtani is pitching tonight. That’s the pick.

When one of the greatest players in baseball history takes the mound you back him. It doesn’t matter that the Dodgers are on the road tonight — Ohtani’s stuff plays anywhere. The Padres are a decent team but they’re facing a generational talent tonight and the Dodgers are the better team regardless of venue.

Dodgers ML.

New York Yankees ML

The Yankees are at home tonight against the Blue Jays with the better pitcher and the better roster. Toronto has been inconsistent this season and New York at Yankee Stadium is a tough place to play.

Better pitcher, better team, home field. Yankees ML.

Atlanta Braves ML

The Braves are the better team tonight in Miami. Atlanta has the pitching edge and the talent gap between these two rosters is significant. The Marlins have been one of the weaker teams in the National League this season and the Braves are built to take care of business in games like this.

Road game doesn’t concern me. Braves ML.

Four pick Wednesday across MLB and NHL.

The Avs pick is personal but it’s also analytical — best team in the West, home ice, deep roster even without Makar. The Ohtani pick is simple — you back greatness. The Yankees and Braves are both talent edges in straightforward spots.

As always — wins and losses posted tonight. He’s been virtually untouchable this season and first innings are where elite starters are at their sharpest.

On the other side Jacob Misiorowski takes the ball for the Brewers with a 2.12 ERA. Also elite. Also locked in from pitch one.

When you have two pitchers of this caliber squaring off the first inning is almost always going to be quiet. Neither lineup is going to jump on these guys early. The NRFI is essentially a bet that two of the best pitchers in baseball do what they’ve been doing all season — get through the first inning without giving anything up.

With a 1.60 and 2.12 ERA staring back at you this is one of the cleaner props you’ll find on tonight’s slate.

Cleveland Cavaliers +7 (Eastern Conference Finals — Game 1 at New York)

The Knicks are favored tonight and deservedly so — home court in the ECF is a significant advantage and New York has been one of the best teams in the East all season.

But I have real conviction in this Cavs roster.

Cleveland just closed out the Pistons in a brutal seven game series, including a dominant 31 point win in Game 7. That’s not a team running on fumes — that’s a team that found another gear when it mattered most. Donovan Mitchell and this group have shown all playoffs that they can compete with anyone.

The Knicks are good. I’m not disputing that. But +7 is a lot of points to lay against a Cavs team with this much talent and playoff experience. I’ll take the points and back Cleveland to keep it close.

Cavs +7.

Two pick Tuesday — quality over quantity.

The NRFI is one of my favorite bet types when the pitching matchup is this good. You’re not betting on who wins the game, you’re betting on two elite arms to do what they’ve done all season in the first inning. Brown and Misiorowski make this a no-brainer spot.

The Cavs pick is pure conviction. The talent is there. +7 gives us plenty of cushion.

As always — results posted tonight. The pitching edge combined with home field makes this a clean spot.

Rays ML.

New York Yankees ML

Better pitcher, better team, home field. The Yankees are hosting the Blue Jays tonight at Yankee Stadium and this is a spot where the talent gap is real. Toronto has been inconsistent and the Yankees at home with a pitching edge is exactly the kind of game you back.

Yankees ML.

Minnesota Twins ML

The Twins have the better arm on the mound tonight and they’re at home against an Astros team that has been banged up. Houston has been dealing with injuries that have taken real depth off their roster and Minnesota is healthy and motivated at home.

Injured road team vs healthy home team with the pitching edge. Twins ML.

Chicago Cubs ML

I keep coming back to the Cubs at home this season because the numbers keep backing it up. They have been one of the most dominant home teams in baseball this year and tonight they’re hosting the Brewers with the better roster top to bottom.

Milwaukee is a decent team but the Cubs at home right now are a different animal. Until they give me a reason to stop backing them at home I’m not going to stop.

Cubs ML.

Seattle Mariners ML

The Mariners have the better pitcher tonight and they’re at home against the White Sox — one of the weakest offenses in baseball. Seattle is banged up which gives me some pause, but the pitching edge against Chicago’s lineup is significant enough to still like this spot.

The injury concern keeps this from being a slam dunk but the matchup is too good to ignore. Mariners ML.

Five game Monday card across MLB.

All five are home teams with pitching edges. The Royals have the better pitcher on the mound and are the better team in this matchup. The White Sox have been one of the worst teams in baseball and Kansas City has enough talent to take care of business here.

No need to overcomplicate it. Better pitcher, better team. Royals ML.

Los Angeles Dodgers ML

The Dodgers are the best team in the National League and they’re at home tonight against the Giants. San Francisco is a decent team but this is a significant talent gap when the Dodgers are healthy and playing at Chavez Ravine.

Home field, better roster top to bottom. Dodgers ML is the play.

Anaheim Ducks ML + U6.5

This is my favorite pick on the card tonight and here’s exactly why.

The Ducks are down 3-2 in this series against the Knights and tonight is a must-win at home. Elimination games at home in the playoffs are one of the most reliable spots in all of sports betting. Teams play loose, desperate, and with everything on the line in front of their own fans. The Ducks have already shown they can beat the Knights — they took out the Oilers in the first round and have been scrappy all series long.

The Knights are a good team but they haven’t closed this series out yet. The Ducks are going to make them earn it tonight.

On the under — this is a tight, physical playoff series between two defensive-minded teams. Game 6 elimination hockey tends to be grinding, low-scoring, and decided by one or two big moments. I’m taking U6.5 and trusting the playoff hockey formula.

Ducks to survive and under to cash.

No NBA tonight.

Looked at the slate and nothing jumped out enough to post. Two strong MLB picks and a great NHL spot is plenty for one night.

Honest record posted after every game. Wins and losses, no spin. That’s where this pick starts and honestly it’s where it ends too.

Fried has been one of the most reliable left-handers in baseball this season. When the Yankees send him out they have a real chance to win every single time. Add in the fact that the Yankees are simply the better team in this matchup and this is a clean spot with no reason to overcomplicate it.

Better pitcher, better team. Yankees ML.

Padres/Brewers First 5 Innings Under 4 Runs

This is a pick type I don’t use often but when the matchup calls for it there’s real value here.

Tonight it calls for it.

Michael King for the Padres and Misiorowski for the Brewers are two of the better pitchers you’ll see in a single game this season. Both are efficient, both limit hard contact, and both give their teams a chance to keep it low scoring early.

The first 5 innings under is specifically about trusting the starters before the bullpens get involved. I’m not making a statement about the full game — I’m saying these two pitchers are going to keep it tight early. Under 4 runs through 5 innings with this matchup on the mound is the play.

Colorado Avalanche ML — Regulation Time Only

The Avs are up 3-1 in this series and they’re closing it out at home tonight. I’m taking them in regulation specifically because I don’t want any exposure to overtime where anything can happen.

The Avalanche are the best team in this series and one of the best in the league. They have every reason to come out sharp tonight — close it at home, send the crowd home happy, get some rest before the next round.

Home ice, series lead, motivated team. Avs in regulation.

Cleveland Cavaliers +4.5 (bought the half from +4)

This is my favorite pick on the card tonight.

The Cavs are the better team in this series in my opinion. The fact that it’s tied 2-2 is more about playoff variance than a true reflection of the talent gap. Tonight they’re on the road which is why there’s points available — but a road dog spot in a tied series for the better team is exactly where you find value.

A win here gives the Cavs a chance to close it out at home in game 5. They know that. That motivation combined with the talent edge makes +4.5 a great number to have.

Bought the half point from +4 to +4.5 to get off that key number. The better team, with something to play for, at a number that gives us cushion. Cavs +4.5.

Full card tonight — four picks across three sports.

This is one of the more diverse cards I’ve posted. The F5 under is a pick type I’ll use more going forward when the pitching matchup calls for it — it’s a way to find value in games where I like the starters but don’t want bullpen exposure.

As always — wins and losses posted tonight. The Sabres are the better team tonight and they’re playing at home. The Canadiens are a young team still finding their identity and hitting the road against a Sabres squad that has real motivation to perform in front of their fans.

Home ice matters in the playoffs and tonight it’s pointing in one direction. Sabres ML is the play.

Ducks/Knights U6.5

Let me give some context here because this pick is about reading a sample size correctly.

The Ducks goalie had a rough series against the Oilers. On the surface that looks like a red flag. But context matters — the Oilers are one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league. They push every goalie’s numbers in the wrong direction. That series tells you more about the Oilers than it does about the Ducks goalie.

Tonight he faces a different opponent. The Knights are a solid team but they’re not the Oilers. That outlier series doesn’t define him and I think we see a much tighter, lower scoring game tonight.

6.5 is a reasonable total but I think this game stays well under it. The Ducks goalie is back.

No MLB or NBA tonight.

Looked at both slates. The Cubs were on my radar early but they’re running a bullpen game tonight — rotating pitchers by inning. When the pitching edge disappears so does the pick. Nothing else jumped out enough to post.

Free picks daily. Full reasoning like this every night. The Hurricanes are one of the best defensive teams in the NHL — they suffocate opponents, limit shots, and make every game ugly on purpose. That’s not a hot streak, that’s their identity.

On the other side you have the Flyers, who needed everything to go right just to squeeze into the playoffs. They drew the Penguins in the first round — arguably the weakest possible opponent — and now they’re stepping up against a Carolina team that is built specifically to dismantle teams like them.

The total was sitting at 5.5 which is already low. I bought the half point to get to 6 for extra cushion. In a game where Carolina controls the pace and limits opportunities, going over 6 goals requires both teams to have big nights. I don’t see it. Hurricanes win, game stays under.

Boston Red Sox ML

This one is about as clean as a pitching matchup gets.

Jake Bennett is having a quietly excellent season — his ERA sits at 1.80, which is elite by any measure. He’s been sharp, consistent, and giving his team a chance to win every time he takes the mound.

On the other side, Griffin Jax is carrying a 5.14 ERA. That’s not a cold stretch — that’s a pitcher who opposing lineups are figuring out.

The Red Sox have been cold at home lately which is actually part of why I like this spot. They need a win in front of their fans and tonight they have the pitching to get it. Fading a hot Rays team is never comfortable but when the ERA gap is this wide and the venue favors Boston, you take it.

The numbers don’t lie. Bennett vs Jax at Fenway is a Red Sox play.

San Diego Padres ML

Three things stacked in the Padres favor tonight — better pitcher, better team, home field.

Michael King has been one of the more reliable arms in the National League this season. He’s efficient, he keeps the ball in the park, and he pitches to contact in a way that plays well at Petco Park where the dimensions work in a pitcher’s favor.

Matthew Liberatore on the other side hasn’t given me enough reason to go against that. The Cardinals are the inferior team in this matchup on paper and on the mound tonight.

Home field at Petco, King on the mound, better roster top to bottom. Padres ML is the play.

No NBA play tonight.

Looked at the slate. Nothing I felt strongly enough about to post. The Cavs game crossed my mind but I couldn’t nail down a reason I loved it enough to put it out. That’s the standard — if I can’t explain it clearly, it doesn’t make the card.

Picks are free. I’m not going to promise you a 70% hit rate or sell you a “lock of the century.” If that’s what you’re looking for there are plenty of other accounts for that.

Here’s what I actually am.

I’m a 28 year old sports fan who has watched way too much football, basketball, and baseball over the years and somewhere along the way started realizing my individual reads on games were pretty solid. The problem was I kept burying good picks inside five and six leg parlays because I thought that’s how you made real money. Spoiler — it isn’t. The parlay was always the problem, never the pick.

So I stopped.

No more parlays. Individual picks only — spreads, moneylines, props, and totals across NFL, NBA, MLB, and College. One pick at a time, with real reasoning behind each one.

I ran hot during March Madness this year. Then I hit a cold stretch at the end. Both are posted. I’m not hiding the losses because an honest record is the only record worth having. Anyone can screenshot their wins.

What you get here:

The free tier gets the picks card every day I have something I genuinely like. If I don’t love it, I don’t post it. No forced picks, no filler.

The paid tier — launching before NFL kickoff — gets the full reasoning behind every pick, mid-week line movement updates, props breakdowns, and DFS notes. Basically everything I’m thinking, not just the conclusion.

One last thing.

I’m a Chargers fan. Always have been, probably always will be. It has not been easy. The Chargers are genuinely the only bet I keep losing.

Everything else — we’re just getting started.

— Recovered Parlay ⚡

Thanks for reading Recovered's Substack! The Phillies have the better pitcher on the mound today and they’re playing at home. Citizen Bank Park isn’t a neutral site — the Phillies have built real home field advantage there and their rotation rewards you when they’re sending out a quality arm. No need to overcomplicate it. Better pitcher, home field, good spot.

Cubs ML

Three things stacked on top of each other here. Better pitcher. Better batting average as a team. And they’re 13-0 at home this season. That last number isn’t a fluke at this point — it’s a pattern. When a team is that dominant at home, you don’t fade them without a real reason to. I don’t have one today. Cubs ML is the play.

Mets ML

I like the Mets today but I’m taking the ML, not the -1.5, and here’s exactly why.

The Mets have the pitching edge, which is the core of the pick. But this game is in Coors Field, and Coors changes everything. Balls carry, offenses wake up, and leads evaporate faster than anywhere else in baseball. That environment makes -1.5 a trap.

Here’s my general rule — I almost never lay -1.5 on a home team in baseball. To cash that ticket you need them up by 2 after 8 innings and a clean 9th. If they’re only up one heading into the bottom of the 9th, they don’t even bat. You’re one bad reliever away from losing a pick you were winning. The ML gives you the same core edge without the unnecessary exposure.

Mets have the better arm today. Take the win, don’t get greedy with the number.

No NHL or NBA plays today.

Looked at both slates. Nothing I felt strongly enough about to post. That’s how this works — when there’s no edge I can clearly identify, I’d rather post nothing than hand you a forced pick. The record matters more than the volume.

Full cards, props breakdowns, and reasoning like this every day will be behind the paid tier when it launches. Paid subscribers get the brain behind them.

— Recovered Parlay ⚡

Thanks for reading Recovered's Substack!
